Xtra Time Web Desk : Current Team India batter Shreyas Iyer is all set to enter the mega auction of the Indian Premier League 2022. According to reports, the Mumbaikar is currently a likely target for Royal Challengers Bangalore as their candidate for the skipper's role, after Virat Kohli stepped down as captain of the franchise at the end of last season.

And stating about the above report, a source in an interview to Times of India said, "Post Virat Kohli quitting the RCB captaincy, RCB are really interested in having Iyer as their next captain. Expect them to bid aggressively for the Mumbaikar in next month’s auction in Bangalore. The Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings are also expected to eye him in the auction.”

Earlier, Iyer left Delhi Capitals at the end of last season as the franchise weren't offering him the skipper's role, with Rishsbh Pant being their full time captain.

Also, the 27 year old batter didn't join Lucknow or Ahemdabad franchises as they were not offering him the captain's role. And now, with RCB, KKR and Punjab eyeing for him, it is to be seen where he ends up finally.
