IPL 2022 : RP Sanjiv Goenka group owned Lucknow franchise officially named as ‘Lucknow Super Giants’

Xtra Time Web Desk : The Lucknow franchise on Monday named their team as ‘Lucknow Super Giants’ for the Indian Premier League 2022. The decision was a much awaited one especially with the Mega Auction approaching fast.

The IPL debutants, owned by RP Sanjiv Goenka Group will be led by KL Rahul this season, as previously announced by the franchise on Friday when they signed the Karnataka batter for a humongous sum of INR 17 crore. Apart from skipper Rahul, the ‘Super Giants’ also picked up Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis for a whooping INR 9.2 crore and uncapped leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi for INR 4 crore as their draft signings.

Earlier, last year in October the Lucknow franchise was bought by the RP Sanjiv Goenka Group for a record sum of INR 7090 crore and was one of the two debutants to enter the mega tournament.

The ‘Lucknow Super Giants’ will enter this year’s mega auction with a remaining purse of INR 59 crore.
