Xtra Time Web Desk : The Indian Premier League 2022 has undoubtedly been one of the most exciting and unexpected seasons so far, with 10 teams taking part in it based upon a new format. And the ongoing season till now has seen some peculiar stuffs which could never have been imagined before by a cricket fan

The 15th edition of the mega T20 tournament on one hand has seen it’s most successful franchise Mumbai Indians sitting at the bottom of the table, losing 8 out of their first 9 games, while on the other hand debutants Gujarat Titans have looked solid at the top of the table.

So, with two third of the season being over, here’s a glance at how the ten teams have performed so far, and what equations do they need to qualify for the playoffs :

Gujarat Titans : The Hardik Pandya led side has been a revelation this season, with 8 wins out of their first 10 games. With the team playing only in their debut season, the table toppers have looked solid in each and every department. And at this stage, the Titans have almost made it to the playoffs and need just 1 win from their remaining 5 games to make a top 2 finish in the points table.

Remaining games : MI, LSG, CSK RCB

Lucknow Super Giants : The other debutant in KL Rahul’s Lucknow Super Giants have been superb this season with a wonderfully amalgamated team consisting of both youth and experience. With 6 wins out of their first 10 games this season, the Sanjiv Goenka owned side need only 2 wins out of their remaining 4 games to guarantee their place into the playoffs. Also, alongside Gujarat, Lucknow are one of the favourites to make a top two finish this season.

Remaining Games : KKR, GT, RR, KKR

Rajasthan Royals : The Sanju Samson led side this season has been superbly led from the front by the Orange Cap and Purple Cap holders in Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal in the batting and bowling department. With 6 wins out of their first 10 games this season, the Royals need only 2 wins out of their remaining 4 to make it to the playoffs.

Remaining Games : PBKS, DC, LSG, CSK

Sunrisers Hyderabad : The Kane Williamson led Sunrisers Hyderabad have been more of a hot and cold affair in the Indian Premier League this season. After losing the first two games on trot, the 2016 champions bounced back with 5 back to back wins before again suffering consecutive losses in their last two matches. With 5 wins out of the 9 games, the Sunrisers need just 3 wins out of their remaining 5 matches to make it to the playoffs this season.

Remaining Games : DC, RCB, KKR, MI, PBKS

Punjab Kings : Punjab Kings under their new skipper Mayank Agarwal have been inconsistent too, with spells of good cricket followed by some poor performances. With 5 wins out of their first 10 games, the 2014 finalists will need to play some really good cricket and win 4 out of their remaining 4 games to ensure qualification into the playoffs.

Remaining Games : RR, RCB, GT, SRH

Royal Challengers Bangalore : The Bangalore franchise under their new skipper Faf du Plessis have been one of the most entertaining sides of the Indian Premier League this season. With Dinesh Karthik being their top performer with the bat this season, the two time finalists are still in the race for the playoffs, although being inconsistent at times. With 5 wins out of their first 10 games this season, the Bangalore franchise need 3 wins out of their remaining 4 games to make it to the playoffs.

Remaining Games : CSK, SRH, PBKS, GT

Delhi Capitals : The Rishabh Pant led franchise too have been inconsistent this season, playing good cricket at times followed by spells of unimpressive gameplay. Led by Kuldeep Yadav in the bowling department, the Delhi franchise is expected to find it difficult to make it to the playoffs this season, if the current circumstances are kept into consideration. With 4 wins out of the first 9 games, Pant’s men need to win 4 out of their remaining 5 games.

Remaining Games : SRH, CSK, RR, PBKS, MI

Kolkata Knight Riders : The Shah Rukh Khan owned franchise have been the epitome of unpredictability this season. With 20 changes in their side so far, the Shreyas Iyer led side have been one of the most inconsistent sides this season. After losing 5 games on a trot, KKR on Monday bounced back with a win against the Rajasthan Royals. With 4 wins out of the 10 games so far, the Kolkata franchise need to win all their remaining 4 games to ensure qualification into playoffs.

Remaining Games : LSG, MI, SRH, LSG

Chennai Super Kings : The defending champions Chennai Super Kings have been one of the most eventful sides of the tournament so far, with skipper MS Dhoni handing over the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja before the start of the season only to be handed back last Saturday, by the all-rounder himself. With 3 wins out of the 9 matches they have played so far, CSK need to win every game from here on with a good net run rate to ensure their qualification into the playoffs. And with Dhoni at the helm, it is very much possible.

Remaining Games : RCB, DC, MI, GT, RR

Mumbai Indians : Sitting at the most unusual position, i.e the bottom of the table, the five time champions mathematically have no chance of qualifying for the playoffs this season. With a solitary win out of their first 9 games this season, the Rohit Sharma led franchise have got nothing to play for except pride.

Remaining Games : GT, KKR, CSK, SRH, DC
