IPL 2021: Likely to begin from April 09, to be held across six venues in India

IPL 2021 is likely to start from April 09 across six venues in India.

Xtra Time Web Desk: In what comes as good news for Indian cricket fans, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to return to India. IPL 2021 is likely to begin from April 09 across six venues in India according to reports. The cash rich league had to be shifted to the UAE last season due to the pandemic.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was keen to organise the IPL 2021 in the country this season and have finally arrived at a consensus to hold the event from April 9-May 30.

The tournament will be conducted across six venues in India – Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, and Bengaluru. The cash rich league will be held for 52-days with a total number of 60 matches including the final on May 30.

With the BCCI already successfully conducting the domestic tournaments like Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy in bio-secure bubbles apart from the ongoing India-England series played in bio-secure conditions, it was expected that the IPL 2021 too will be held in the country.

All eight teams will be staying in bio-bubbles across the six venues and it remains to be seen if fans will be allowed in all six venues. The 2020 edition of the tournament was played with no fans in the UAE due to the coronavirus pandemic.
