Xtra Time Web Desk: Delhi Capitals received good news ahead of the start of IPL 2021 Phase 2 as star batsman Shreyas Iyer has hit the nets after exactly 100 days since getting injured. The Mumbai batsman has been out of action since the opening ODI in the series against England at home on March 23. Iyer injured his shoulder while trying to field at the boundary. He was ruled out of the remaining two ODIs as well as the IPL 2021. The Indian middle order batsman also had to undergo a surgery in the 2nd week of April. The Delhi Capitals franchise shared a video of Iyer knocking at the indoor nets in Mumbai.

Shreyas was also not picked for the white ball series against Sri Lanka which will start from July 18. He was also ruled out of his maiden stint with Lancashire. He was to represent the team in Royal London One-Day Cup.

The Mumbai cricketer is one of the strongest contenders to make it to the T20 World Cup squad. But before that Iyer will have to prove his fitness in IPL to retain his spot. He has been regular member of white-ball teams since his comeback in 2019.

Meanwhile Iyer was recently named in the 45-member squad by the Mumbai Cricket Association for a fitness training camp ahead of the start of the domestic season. As far as fitness is concerned, Iyer recently revealed that the healing process is complete and that he is in a race against time to be fully fit to take part in the second-half of the IPL.
