Xtra Time Web Desk: England fast bowler Mark Wood has withdrawn his name from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 mini auctions, scheduled to take place on Thursday in Chennai. As per reports, the 31 year old cricketer from Durham has decided to pull himself out citing personal reasons. The franchises were informed at a briefing in Chennai on Wednesday that the pacer had decided to pull out of the auction in order to spend time with his family at home. Wood was placed in the highest bracket of base price of INR 2 crore along with compatriot Moeen Ali, Alex Hales and Jason Roy.
Wood, who is now in India to play the remaining two test matches of the ongoing series has played 18 Tests, 53 ODIs and 11 T20Is. He has so far played only one IPL game, for Chennai Super Kings, in 2018.
