IPL 2020: World Rugby 7 event cancellation in Dubai unlikely to have any impact

XtraTime Web Desk: With each passing day there are concerning news developing ahead of the upcoming 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 2020). The latest has emerged from Dubai, one of the venues for IPL 2020. The World Body of Rugby has cancelled the World Rugby Seven Series in Dubai due to Covid-19, contrary to the claims that Dubai is the safest destination to host the cash rich league.

It is learnt UAE is still registering on an average 300-350 cases everyday and that must have influenced the World Body of Rugby to cancel the event. It does put a serious question mark on the health safety to organize a tournament of the stature of IPL which will go on for 51 days.

According to sources in Dubai, the Emirates Government has recently started issuing Tourist/Visitor visas for entering the country. The situation is perfectly under control, the source further added.

The 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) will be held from September 19 to November 8 in UAE. The matches will be staged in three stadiums – Dubai International Stadium, Sharjah Cricket Stadium and Sheikh Zayed Stadium.
