Xtra Time Web Desk: Rajasthan Royals pulled off a pretty convincing win against Chennai Super Kings on Monday, winning the match by 7 wickets at Abu Dhabi to keep their play offs hopes alive in IPL 2020. Chasing a modest target of 126 runs, Rajasthan Royals were in a spot losing three wickets inside Powerplay including the big wicket of Ben Stokes (19).

However Captain Steve Smith combined with Jos Buttler to steer the team to a comfortable win. Buttler smashed an unbeaten 70 off 47 and stitched a 98-run stand for the 4th wicket with skipper Steve Smith (25 off 33) to make the run-chase a cakewalk for the 2008 IPL champions.

Post match, RR Captain Steve Smith said he would want Buttler to bat lower down the order to add more solidity to the middle order. The idea might not be liked by the Englishman as his preferred batting position in the shorter format is top order.

According to Smith, “He walked in with a positive mindset and made things a lot easier for me at the other end. Jos is obviously an unbelievable player at the top. I also believe he has the ability to do things like AB de Villiers, Pollard and Hardik Pandya. I think those kinds of players at the back end win you games. It’s a difficult one, I know Jos loves batting at the top.”

With the win over CSK, Rajasthan Royals have now moved to the fifth position with 4 wins in 10 matches. They will next play Sunrisers Hyderabad in Dubai on Thursday.
