IPL 2020: Prithvi Raj Yarra: All you need to know about Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s replacement at SRH

XtraTime Web Desk: Andhra Pradesh left-arm pacer Yarra Prithvi Raj has replaced star cricketer Bhuvneshwar Kumar at Sunrisers Hyderabad. The franchise has confirmed this news on twitter. Earlier Yarra was a part of two-time Indian Premier League champion Kolkata Knight Riders.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar sustained the injury during an Indian Premier League fixtureagainst Chennai Super Kings in Dubai on Friday and a team source told that the ‘swing king’ will be missing the rest of the tournament.

In the last season Yarra just got two opportunities for KKR and in those two matches he had conceded 57 runs at an economy rate of 11.40. Now with the unavailability of Bhuvi, it will be a great opportunity Prithvi Raj to showcase his talents.

Prithvi, who bowls at a speed of nearly 150kmph, started to impress the selectors from season 2017-18 Vijay Hazare Trophy. A good bowling performance in that tournament earned Prithvi Raj a place in the Andhra Ranji Trophy season that year. The pacer’s first-class debut came against Tamil Nadu in Ranji season 2017-18 where the youngster impressed one and all by claiming six wickets in the match – three in each innings.

Prithvi raj has also represented Andhra at the junior levels and his ability to pick wickets in the shortest format makes him a player to watch out for. Not only does he generate a lot of pace but also has a lot of variations to work with.

An admirer of former Australian left-arm fast bowler Mitchell Johnson, Prithvi Raj wants to follow the path of his idol and his dream wicket is none other than India skipper Virat Kohli. Prithvi might get that chance when Sunrisers clash with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the return clash. In the first leg, Royal Challengers had comfortably beaten Hyderabad.
