IPL 2020: Massive boost for Rajasthan Royals as Ben Stokes all set to take the field against SRH

Xtra Time Web Desk: Rajasthan Royals will look for some inspiration from Ben Stokes as the England all rounder is all set to play his first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the ongoing IPL 2020 on Sunday. Stokes did train on Saturday with the team after completing his six days quarantine since arriving from Christchurch. Steve Smith’s boys need to regroup and quicker they do the better it is for the team. They are struggling at the penultimate spot on the points table after two wins and four straight defeats, while Sunrisers have won three out of their six games so far and occupy the third position.

Stokes had taken a break from cricket, leaving in the middle of England’s home Test series against Pakistan in August to be by the side of his ailing father in New Zealand. Stoke’s father is diagnosed with brain cancer. It was his father who reminded the star all-rounder of his duty towards his job and that might be playing in the 29-year-old’s mind.

The World Cup winning all rounder was busy doing some fitness drills and working on treadmill inside his hotel room. It is to be seen whether he is drafted in the playing XI against SRH.

“Stokes hasn’t had a lot of practice, he gets out of quarantine tomorrow, so we’ll see if he plays the day after tomorrow,” skipper Steve Smith had said after the match against Delhi Capitals.

Rajasthan, having lost to Delhi Capitals by a big margin of 46 runs, will look to stage a comeback.
