IPL 2020: Marcus Stoinis talks about his role in Delhi Capitals

XtraTime Web Desk: Delhi Capitals had a great start in this year’s Indian Premier League and it’s Marcus Stoinis who led the foundation. Speaking about their amazing start, Stoinis said, “Yeah, we have been doing well. It’s always good to start well in these tournaments but it’s also hard to win back to back games. So, that’s the play today.”

Stoinis further added how all the departments are clicking well for them. “Yeah it is. Our batters are doing well at the top. That played a big part in winning our last game with that opening partnership. Hopefully they can continue that. Our big fast bowlers are doing well as well.”

Stoinis’ role isn’t clearly defined. That’s what with any all-rounder these days. When asked about whether he is ready to contribute anywhere in this fast pace tournament, he said, “Yeah it is. You never know what’s your roles going to be. You have to adapt with the situation of the game and watch it closely with my coaching staff. So, I hope I can keep contributing.”

Ricky Pointing is the head coach of Delhi Capitals, someone Stoinis know very closely because of the Australian connection. Speaking about him as a coach, Stoinis said, “Yeah, Ricky’s a legend. We all know how good a player he was. Now him as a coach, the way he respects the players, the confidence he gives you. It’s no wonder if that’s how he spoke to himself when he played then it’s not a surprise.”

Stoinis also talked about how good and settled side Bangalore is. “We all know and spoke about them, such a good team. They got such good experience in the batting line-up. Some good bowlers, so we will come out with our plans but you know this game.. always think on your feet as the game goes on.”
