IPL 2020: I wish I was ABD to be honest, says Kohli after a super over win against MI

XtraTime Web Desk: Fans got to see another close encounter in IPL 2020. With each passing day, this year’s cash rich league is getting better and better.

Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians vs Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore is one of the marquee matches of every IPL and what a game the fans have gotten. Batting first, RCB scored 201 runs. Finch (52) Padikkal (54), De Villiers (55) all scored 50+ runs with ABD just did in in 24 balls.

It was always a tough ask for Mumbai and it became really tough for them when then lost two quick wickets. However, at the back end of the innings, Ishan Kishan and Pollard did some extraordinary stuffs. Pollard scored 60 of 24 balls and Ishan Kishan scored 99 runs in 57 balls. At the end of 40th over, the teams were locked level and IPL had its 2nd super over in just 10 days.

Batting first, Mumbai scored just 7 runs. Navdeep Saini was brilliant with his yorkers and didn’t give Pollard and Pandya any room. ABD and Kohli came to bat and did it in the very last ball of the super over. With this, Bangalore registered their 2nd win in this year’s IPL and Mumbai, their second loss.

AB De Villiers won the Man of The Match but couldn’t collect it because he was too dehydrated. Captain Kohli collected the award on his behalf and said, “I wish I was AB de Villiers to be honest! I think he was coming off a long break. Some of the shots he played were outstanding. Good with the gloves as well. You speak with him and he keeps things simple. Doesn’t watch a lot of cricket, enjoys his life, enjoys his golf. Comes out here relaxed and backs his ability.”

Virat Kohli remained quite relaxed even after winning a thriller if a match. In the post match conference he said, “I don’t have words right now. It was such a roller-coaster game. I think they played really well and patiently in the middle. It went down to the wire, we tried to execute the things we wanted to. We’ve got a close victory and these little things on the field, we really want to focus on it. It was all about stepping onto the field and taking responsbility.”

These kind of games makes IPL the best tournament in the world. The Indian captain was happy with the quality of the match. He said, “It was a good match-up against Jasprit. Top quality cricket and games like these, people would love to watch. The changes that we made, make Washi bowl in the PP paid off. Gurkeerat didn’t get a chance to bat. The guys showed good character.”

Virat also appreciated Saini’s efforts in the super-over saying, “Outstanding Super Over from him (Saini). He used the yorkers and wide balls to good effect. This should boost us going forward.”

The losing captain Rohit Sharma in the post match conference said, “It was a great game of cricket. We were not in the game at all when we started off with the bat. I thought we could chase 200 with the power we have. With Polly being there anything can happen, Ishan was also hitting it well. Nothing to take away from RCB they held their nerve better than us.”
