XtraTime Web Desk: After days of speculation the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to release the schedule of the upcoming 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) on Saturday. The BCCI top level officials led by IPL Governing Council Chairman Brijesh Patel and acting CEO Hemang Amin met Emirates Cricket Board chief Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak on Thursday evening and resolved most of the issues. The biggest concerns for the BCCI was the inter-city travel protocols as there were different COVID-19 norms for two emirates, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. But after the intervention of the Emirates Cricket Board chief, the issues have been resolved.

It is worth noting that Sheikh Nahyan is also the UAE’s minister of culture & youth development. After request from BCCI, ECB Chief has personally intervened in the matter and has managed to break the deadlock in regard to the smooth travel operations between Abu Dhabi & Dubai.

The two emirates of Dubai and Abu Dhabi have separate protocols related to Covid-19. There are travel restrictions as well between the two cities.

While entering Abu Dhabi, one has to undergo mandatory rapid tests. Only after a negative test, one can cross the border. Such strict procedures were becoming impediment for the teams on a match-day. That is the reason BCCI has not declared the IPL 2020 schedule till date.

According to the sources, BCCI will release the IPL 2020 schedule in next 24 hours.
