IPL 2020: Bangladesh Cricket Board denies Mustafizur Rahman an opportunity to play for KKR

XtraTime Web Desk: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has reportedly denied their premier fast bowler Mustafizur Rahaman a NOC to take part in the upcoming 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 2020). Mustafizur was approached by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to play for them in the cash rich league this season. KKR has been looking for a replacement for England seamer Harry Gurney who pulled out due to injury. Mustafizur too was keen to play in the IPL 2020 but international commitments stopped him from doing so as Bangladesh are scheduled to tour Sri Lanka for a three match test series starting October 24.

According to BCB Cricket Operations Manager Akram Khan to Cricbuzz, “Yes, he [Mustafizur] had an offer from the IPL but we did not give him NOC as we have the Sri Lanka tour coming up.”

BCB is planning a week-long residential camp ahead of the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka that is set to begin on September 21, of which Mustafizur is expected to be a part.

Mustafizur was also approached by Mumbai Indians after Lasith Malinga made himself unavailable for the league this season. But the Mumbai franchise managed to sign James Pattinson as the replacement for Malinga.

Rahman has earlier plied his trade with the Mumbai franchise in 2018 season. Prior to 2018 he has also played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016-17 seasons.
