XtraTime Web Desk: A late order cameo (44 off 22 balls) from MS Dhoni helped Chennai Super Kings thrash Delhi Capitals by 80 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2019) match at Chepauk on Wednesday. Dhoni showed Delhi Capitals who’s the boss when it comes to late order strikes. The CSK captain went hammer and tongs during the slog overs against Chris Morris and Trent Boult as together with Ravindra Jadeja they piled 77 runs off the last five overs. In fact, the last over bowled from Boult went for 21 runs. Dhoni’s knock included four huge sixes and three hits to the fence. But the most outrageous shot during the 22 ball knock was the one-handed six that Dhoni hit off Chris Morris in the fifth delivery off the 19th over. The ball slipped out of the Proteas fast bowler’s hand but that did not stop the CSK captain from throwing his bat as the ball flew over the fine leg boundary for a six. Morris immediately walked towards Dhoni to seek an apology.

AB De Villiers played a similar stroke at Chinnaswamy few days back. Mr 360 hit Kings XI Punjab bowler Md Shami for a one-handed six during the IPL clash on April 25. It was a high full toss from Shami and without even watching the ball; De Villiers just swung his bat for an outrageous six that landed outside the stadium. Talking after the match, Dhoni said, “I watch the ball and hit the ball. I think by 20th over you are almost ready and you swing at everything. It's easier for somebody who has played 10 or 15 deliveries than somebody who has just come in bat. The ball was holding on a bit, it wasn't coming on nicely. I felt it was slightly difficult for Rayudu to hit. Rishabh helped me, he didn't take his gloves off and that helped me a bit (for a quick bye).” He added, “We knew there won't be much dew on the field. Once we started our innings of bowling, Bhajju pa didn't get much turn initially. But as they kept losing wickets, it slowed down a bit and the spinners got more turn. I felt it was a good wicket, 170-180 was a par-plus score." The win took the Yellow Army to 18 points from 13 matches with a healthy net run rate of +0.209.
