Xtra Time Web Desk: Chennai Super Kings batsman Faf du Plessis made full use of the opportunity as the Proteas ODI captain scored a brilliant 38 ball 54 runs against Kings XI Punjab during the Indian Premier League (IPL 2019) clash at Chepauk on Saturday. The South African cricketer was sent to open the batting for the Yellow Army and he didn’t let the fans down. His knock was studded with two fours and four hits into the stands.

There was an incident that did not go unnoticed by the viewers while the Proteas batsman was batting. It was in the final ball of the 3rd over when the South African played a perfectly timed scoop shot for a six off Md Shami. But what happened next was funny as Chris Gayle, fielding at short fine leg tried to copy the shot played by du Plessis.

The West Indian though did not have the opportunity to try the scoop shot as he was packed, caught behind by Dhoni off Harbhajan Singh in the second over of the Punjab innings.
Talking about his knock, a pleased Faf said, “I am just glad to be playing in the home ground Chennai. Have been waiting for an opportunity and it was nice to get a game today. I have been batting well leading up to the tournament. It’s always nice to get an opportunity.”
