IPL 2019: ‘Vintage’ Lasith Malinga gives Mumbai Indians their fourth title in a thriller

XtraTime Web Desk: Chennai Super Kings needed just 9 runs in 6 deliveries with Shane Watson still at the crease. In modern days it’s a cake walk for any batting side. Mumbai India’s skipper Rohit Sharma gave the ball to his veteran bowler Lasith Malinga to save the ship. The veteran Sri Lankan bowler had already given more than 40 runs on 3 overs but he showed how to keep his cool and pulled out a thriller as Mumbai won the title for the fourth time by just 1 run. In the first three deliveries he just gave 4 runs and the equation was 5 runs in 3 balls for CSK. In the fourth ball Watson tried to take a couple but he was run out during taking the second run.

On the fifth delivery Shardul Thakur took 2 runs and CSK needed just 2 runs on the final ball. And then came vintage Lasith Malinga who bowled a brilliant yorker and to get Thakur’s wicket and give Mumbai a thrilling win. After their win Malinga said,”If we conceded one run, then we wouldn’t win, and I wanted to win so I got the wicket.”
