XtraTime Web Desk: Rajasthan Royals batsman Ajinkya Rahane has followed the footsteps of Shane Warne, who is also the ambassador for the franchise. Rahane has signed up with Hampshire, the county for whom Shane Warne played. The Mumbai cricketer will be the first-ever Indian cricketer to represent Hampshire. Rahane will feature in eight County Championship matches throughout May, June and start of July. He will replace South African Aiden Markram, who will join the Proteas squad for the World Cup. Talking about his decision, Rahaane said, “I am excited to be the first Indian to play for Hampshire, a county which has a glowing reputation. I hope to score runs and win as a team. I would like to thank the BCCI for allowing me to play.” According to Giles White, the Director of the county, “Ajinkya showed an interest early in on and the way things have played out, it’s a great opportunity to get him over. We are really excited to have him with us.”
