IPL 2019: Rishabh Pant does a Dhoni behind stumps

XtraTime Web Desk: “Rishabh game dikha nam bana” this was legendary Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s suggestion to his successor Rishabh Pant during an add shoot ahead of Indian Premier League 2019. The young fellow from Delhi is doing what his ‘Guru’ said. Though Pant was not that good with the bat today but his reflex behind the stumps was almost as good as his master MS Dhoni.

The veteran wicketkeeper batsman’s reflex behind the wicket is a treat to watch for everyone and Pant too was very fast when he stumped dangerous Shane Watson on a crucial moment of the game. Amit Mishra loaded the ball up with a flight and kept it away from Watson’s range – outside off, the Australian still tried to whack it over extra cover, but was done in by the turn. The back foot was dragged out and by the time he tried to get back, Pant had light up the stumps very quickly which we mostly get from MSD.

Though Pant was fast like his master this time but the young lad needs to do well like this consistently to get any closer to the legend like Dhoni. While comparing the stumping of the two Sanjay Manjrekar too said that Dhoni has taken his keeping to a different level. “Dhoni collects the ball so close to the stumps against spinners to effect a stumping. Keepers nowadays are looking to master it but Dhoni has taken this to a different level,” said Manjrekar.
