IPL 2019: RCB’s failure will be a blessing in disguise for India, says this former cricketer

Xtra Time Web Desk: Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar feels the failure to Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore can be a blessing in disguise for the Indian team ahead of the forthcoming Cricket World Cup in England. The Bangalore based franchise has lost all its six matches they played in the cash rich league, inviting harsh criticism.

Kohli too is having a disastrous season both with the bat as well as captaincy. In six matches so far in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2019), the Bangalore skipper has amassed 203 runs with only one half-century, very unlike the high standards he sets.

According to Gavaskar, Kohli will be more than eager to set things right in national colors.

Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to announce the fifteen member squad for the forthcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 on April 15 in Mumbai. It is learnt from reliable sources that the selection committee will weigh in the performance of the players in the ongoing IPL matches.

India opens their campaign in the World Cup against South Africa on June 5 at Ageas Bowl in Southampton. Kohli & co. is expected to depart for England on May 22 — 10 days after the IPL final.
