IPL 2019: Once a rival and now working together. Sourav Ganguly opens up on Ricky Ponting

XtraTime Web Desk: Legendary Indian captain Sourav Ganguly is working with Aussie World Cup winning captain Ricky Ponting for Indian Premier League side Delhi Capitals. Delhi has been a below par side in most of the IPL seasons and in this edition they added these two legends with the team’s support staffs to change their fortune. Ganguly looked pretty confident with his new job with Ponting and hopeful that the team will do well.

“My work is to communicate with Ricky Ponting. I talked him regarding the team’s strategy and other things. He is the coach and the boss of the team. But I will give the needful advice to him and the team for the betterment of the squad,” said Sourav while standing at the sideline during Delhi’s game against Mumbai.

A lot of new players have joined the Delhi Capitals side this season. Ganguly looked eager to work with them.

“A lot of new faces has joined our squad this season. I am talking with them regarding their game. I am also telling them how to play under tough situations,” said Ganguly.

Sourav has been a powerful character on field when he played for India. Now as an adviser of Delhi Capitals he always want to be with the players during practice and he has told it to Rickey Ponting as well.

“I have told Ricky to keep me inside the ground as I can’t stay away from the field. I also want to give practice to the cricketers.”

Ganguly feels that India will rule for next 20 years as it has a lot off talented cricketers.” In next 20 years time India will rule the world cricket. If you go to any ground on Saturday or Sundays you will see a lot off young kids playing cricket in the ground,” concluded Ganguly.
