IPL 2019: Krunal Pandya wins respect for this act

Xtra Time Web Desk: Mumbai Indians spinner Krunal Pandya won the respect of cricket fraternity on Saturday for his act in the IPL 2019 match against Kings XI Punjab at Mohali. The spinner averted another mankading incident by not breaking the stumps while Mayank Agarwal was standing way ahead at the non strikers end.

Earlier this week, R Ashwin had sparked a controversy when he Mankaded Rajastahn Royals batsman Jos Buttler in Jaipur. After R Ashwin controversially ran out Buttler, the Royals suffered a collapse and a lost a high-scoring game by 14 runs.

Ashwin was heavily criticised for his act by both current and former cricketers. Several others felt he was well within his rights to Mankad a batsman who was trying to gain extra advantage at the non-striker’s end. The MCC also changed its stance and said Ashwin’s Mankading act wasn’t within the spirit of the game.

On Saturday, Krunal Pandya had the chance to Mankad Mayank Agarwal but the India spinner let it go. Agarwal went to smash a match winning 43 off 21 balls to help the Kings register a 8 wicket win at home.
