XtraTime Web Desk: Young Ishan Kishan’s 17-ball half-century was a game changing knock against Kolkata Knight Riders last night which helped defending champions Mumbai Indians to occupy No.4 spot in the points table after they beat the hosts by 102 runs at the Eden Gardens last night.

In the first strategic time-out the home side was in a pretty good position with Mumbai’s scoreboard showing 62 for 2 in 9 overs. Then came the 19-year old wonder Ishan Kishan who smashed 62 runs from just 21 balls. He hit five fours and six gigantic sixes to turn the game around in favour of Mumbai Indians as the visitors scored 210 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs. KKR batting order failed to take the pressure as they were bowled out for only 108 in 18.1 overs. With this win Mumbai pushed KKR to No.5 in the points table. Both the teams have 10 points in 11 games but Mumbai has a superior net run-rate.

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma made it clear that Ishan’s knock was the turning point of the game against KKR.

“Without doubt Ishan Kishan’s fearless knock was the turning point. He just came in and changed momentum. I was assessing the pitch at that point, ball was sticking in the pitch, it wasn’t easy, but he changed the game. We were 65 after first ten overs, but scoring 145 in last ten overs is a magnificent effort by all the batters. Ben Cutting as well, he hasn’t been getting much opportunity as well, it’s not easy to come out and play shots like that,” said Rohit.

After taking his team to victory young Kishan spoke on Rohit and Dhoni’s influence in the play during the post-match press conference.

“It’s always good if a youngster gets to bat up in the order, and if your franchise and skipper backs you,” said Kishan. Speaking of Dhoni, Kishan added, “I think he helps me a lot. Whenever I meet him, I get a lot of tips from him. He is a legend. He tells me how I can take time and access the situation. I feel confident when they talk to me. Dhoni-bhaiya and Rohit-bhaiya back me. They say ‘you have played a very good knock’ and just back yourself.”
