Xtra Time Web Desk: World Champions France suffered a blow ahead of Euro 2020 as Karim Benzema walked off the park with a possible knee injury during Tuesday night’s friendly against Bulgaria. The injury to Benzema will definitely keep France coach Didier Deschamps worried before the start of Euro 2020 which starts from June 10. Substitute Oliver Giroud (83’& 90’) made the most of his time on the pitch as he score twice while Antoine Griezmann (29’) scored the other goal for France.

Benzema, playing his second game for France after a hiatus of more than five years, had to be taken off in the 41st minute as Deschamps didn’t want to risk with the Real Madrid striker.

During the interval Deschamps told French outlet TF1 that, “It’s a knock on the knee, which also affects the muscle. He felt he was getting stiff so he asked to be subbed. The medical staff are taking care of him.”

The game was attended by 5,000 fans almost eight months after France last played in front of a crowd versus Portugal.

France kick start their Euro 2020 campaign against Germany in Munich next Tuesday before taking on Hungary and European champions Portugal in Group F.
