Indonesia Open: HS Prannoy enters semi-final; face China’s Zhao Junpeng in last-four

Xtra Time Web Desk: India’s HS Prannoy will take on China’s Zhao Junpeng in the semi-final of the Indonesian Open on Saturday. The 29-year-old defeated Denmark’s Rasmus Gamke in straight sets. Prannoy will have a great opportunity to make it to the final of his first BWF 1000 tournament since 2017. The last time Prannoy won was in US Open in July of 2017.

Prannoy has been on a sensational form this year and this will be his second BWF tournament semi-final this year. The World No.23 started the year by reaching the quarterfinals in three consecutive tournaments – Indian Open, Syed Modi International and the German Open.

After the disappointment at the All-England Championship, where he made a first round exit he reached the finals of the Swiss Open. He ended up being the Runner-Up after losing to Jonathan Christie.

He played a key role in India’s Thomas Cup winning campaign, where he remained unbeaten.

Prannoy will be looking to continue his good form in the Indonesian Open. He is yet to lose a single game in the tournament.
