Xtra Time Web Desk: Mumbai Indians star batter Suryakumar Yadav is likely to be not part of the Indian squad for the upcoming five match T20 series against South Africa at home. Surya had a muscle tear due to which he was ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2022 season. According to a report in Inside Sport, the selectors are unlikely to rush with him as the extent of the injury is a little serious.

On Monday, Suryakumar was ruled out of the entire IPL 2022. He sustained the injury during Mumbai Indians’ match against Gujarat Titans on May 6.

“Mumbai Indians batter Suryakumar Yadav has been ruled out of the TATA IPL 2022 owing to a left forearm muscle injury. Mr. Yadav sustained the injury during the team’s fixture against Gujarat Titans on 6th May, 2022,” a BCCI press release read.

Suryakumar is be visiting the National Cricket Academy (NCA) next week for rehabilitation. The dashing batter returned from injury on April 6, a week after IPL began. He suffered an injury to his wrist and was ruled out of the Sri Lanka series.

Meanwhile, Suryakumar wished the Mumbai Indians teammates luck for the remaining matches in IPL 2022. He tweeted, “With all your good wishes and support, I will be back in no time ?To my MI family, I will be cheering for you from the other side, this time. Let’s finish the tournament on a high note and display our true character on field.”
