Xtra Time Web Desk: Kolkata Joba Racing team emerged as the champions of the Indian National Car Championship held at the MMRT on Sunday. It was great moment for the Kolkata based F3 racing team achieving the silverware in their maiden entry in the national racing circuit. Prithveen Rajan of Kolkata Joba Racing team had a podium finish despite finishing 3rd in the semi final.

In the previous leg of INCC held at the same venue, Rupesh Shivakumar achieved a top 5 finish. It was an incredible feat for the Joba Racing Team considering it was their maiden year in the racing circuit of the country.

Reacting to his podium finish, Prithvin Rajan said, “This season I had the opportunity to drive for the Joba Racing Team and I am grateful to the owners John and Tunna Mukherjee. I want to thank Roopesh for all the advices he gave me during the practice sessions. And special thanks to the mechanics and lastly my family, It’s a great result for a new team.”

According to Tathagata (Tunna) Mukherjee, “I am extremely surprised with the result. In the previous leg we held 4th position. This time we came in the first position in one race and second runner up in the other. In the previous leg, Roopesh Shivakumar had a top five finish because of some technical issues with the car. It s a great achievement for us as we are the first and only racing team from the state of Bengal.”

The Indian National Car Championship 2020 was held at the MMRT behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The two-day, seven-race programme, started on Saturday. The track, which received a drenching from cyclone Nivar earlier in the week, recovered well for the races to be held as scheduled.
