Xtra Time Web Desk : Chetan Sharma led BCCI selection committee has reportedly picked the squads for West Indies series at home on Wednesday Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian team after he passed the mandatory fitness test at NCA. Team India’s new white ball captain was present at the selection meeting held in Bengaluru.

According to sources, young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi was on Wednesday rewarded with a maiden India call-up for the upcoming Twenty20 series against the West Indies while senior wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav also returned to the white ball set up after a knee surgery.

"Kuldeep Yadav is making a comeback and Ravi Bishnoi is the new face in the team for the West Indies series. The team will be led by Rohit Sharma," a senior BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

It is learnt that pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been retained in the ODI squad and dropped for T20s while former skipper Virat Kohli will feature only in the both ODIs the T20s.


It is understood that Kuldeep, who had lost his mojo in the Kohli-Ravi Shastri era, has been called back as the current team management and selectors feel that he has the x-factor to contribute to the team's cause. He underwent a knee surgery in September last year.

The sources have also confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the series considering the workload management and Bhuvneshwar Kumar is included in T20I squad despite his lacklustre show in South Africa.

Avesh Khan has likely been ncluded in T20I squa along with Washington Sundar making a comeback in the Indian side since getting injured in England.

Ravichandran Ashwin is also reportedly not included in any squads as he is nursing an injury.
The players will assemble at the NCA by this weekend for a customary fitness test. The squad will leave for Ahmedabad for a short camp.

They will spend three days in quarantine before entering the bio-bubble. The three match ODI series will start from February 6.
