Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India’s dashing wicket keeper batsman Rishabh Pant on Friday powered his way to a brilliant hundred against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Pant reached his third test ton in 115 balls, which included 13 fours and two sixes. It was also his first hundred at home soil in the longer format.

Pant took on experienced England pacer James Anderson immediately after the visiting side took the new ball. He reached his hundred with a slog sweep off Joe Root for six. A reverse sweep over slip off Anderson's bowling was the highlight of the innings.

Pant, who has already made a name for himself when he led India to an amazing win in Adelaide but then today’s knock was a perfect example of his growing maturity. He walked into bat with Indian reeling at 121/5, but when he was dismissed by James Anderson for 101 runs, the hosts have already taken a lead of 54 runs.

Giving Pant good company, Washington Sundar also notched up a fifty under pressure against England in the 4th Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Day 2 to put India in command.

Anderson picked 3 wickets while Ben Stokes and Jack Leach picked 2 each and were asking plenty of questions of the batsmen before Pant and Washington Sundar took charge with a century stand, taking the wind out of the English sails.
