India vs England: I will get to learn so much from captain Virat Kohli: Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav is looking forward to picking India captain Virat Kohli’s brains.

Xtra Time Web Desk: Mumbai batsman Suryakumar Yadav on Monday said he is looking forward to meeting India captain Virat Kohli and picking his brains. Suryakumar will be getting to share the dressing room with Kohli as he has been drafted in the India T20I squad for the upcoming five match T20I series to be played at the Sardar Patel Stadium starting March 5.

The stylish batsman just can’t wait to join the Indian squad next month for the T20I series against England after getting his maiden international call-up last week. He has been rewarded by the selectors for his consistent show in domestic cricket. Despite his good show with the bat (scored 480 runs in IPL 2020 to help Mumbai Indians lift the title) the cricketer from Mumbai was neglected for the tour to Australia.

But good things come to those who wait which Surya did and has finally got the chance to shine at the international stage.

“I have already started thinking about how I am going to spend time with all the greats over there.

“I will get to learn so much from our captain Virat Kohli and then there is Rohit Sharma, everyone, A-Z all the players. I am really looking forward to spend quality time, grasp as much as I can,” Suryakumar told Sports Today.

Surya is one of three debutants in the squad along with his MI teammate Ishan Kishan and Haryana all-rounder Rahul Tewatia. All three were among the best of the players in the IPL last season.

“There were a few instances during the IPL where I used to dream about winning games for India and I think the opportunity for me has come at the right time. It’s on me how I take it and how I make full use of it.

“Not thinking about too much, I would say, I would go one step at a time, take one game at a time. I have a few plan. Obviously, I would love to go ahead and explore in this series,” Surya said.

India and England will play a series of 5 T20 internationals in Ahmedabad from March 12. All the matches will be played at the newly-built Sardar Patel Cricket stadium in Motera.
