Mayank Agarwal being attended by medical staff after getting hit by a bouncer from Md Siraj at the nets on Monday.

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India's opening batsman Mayank Agarwal on Monday was ruled out of the first test against England after he was hit on the back of his head by a short ball from teammate Mohammed Siraj during a training session at Trent Bridge on Monday.

Mayank was in some discomfort, immediately opening the helmet. He sat on the ground with physio Nitin Patel immediately rushing to attend him. He was then seen pressing the back of his head while leaving the nets escorted by Patel.

It is expected that he will have to undergo a mandatory concussion test before being cleared to play the Test match.

Indian test vice captain Ajinkya Rahane said, " Every member of the touring party is available for selection except Mayank Agarwal."

In case he is unable to play, KL Rahul, who has mostly opened in Test matches could be asked to open. The other option is Bengal opener Abhumanyu Easwaran.
