Xtra Time Web Desk: Kolkata Knight Riders’ mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy is likely to be dropped from the Indian squad picked to travel Down Under for the series against Australia. The KKR spinner has been suffering from a shoulder injury while playing in the IPL 2020. The selectors were not aware of the injury while picking the squad as per a report in Indian Express. The report said that Chakravarthy is suffering from a labrum tear in his shoulder which does not affect his bowling but can be a problem when it comes to throwing the ball. The report further claims that he has had the tear for a while now and it aggravated during the course of IPL 2020 where he was representing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

The mystery spinner from Tamil Nadu was handed his maiden call up for the T20I series against Australia. The shoulder niggle is the reason why Chakravarthy mostly fielded in the inner circle for KKR in IPL 2020. The question is why weren’t the selectors informed about his shoulder niggle. It is the responsibility of the physio of the respective franchise to hand over their report to Team India physio Nitin Patel, which was not the case with Chakravarthy. The KKR team management only informed Patel about Chakravarthy’s injury after their IPL campaign ended.

There have been several instances of injuries to Indian cricketers while playing in the ongoing IPL 2020. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s  Bhuvneshwar Kumar has not been included in the jumbo squad travelling to Austrlia. Both Rohit Sharma and  Ishant Sharma also did not find favour with the selectors due to injuries. But the Mumbai batsman proved his fitness by playing in the last league game and Qualifier 1 against Delhi Capitals.
