India starts it’s ICC World Test Championship journey with a 2-0 whitewash over Windies

XtraTime Web Desk: Virat Kohli led Indian cricket team ended their your of West Indies with another dominating whitewash as they beat the hosts by 257 runs in the second Test at Jamica. With this win the World No.1 Test side starts it’s ICC World Test Championship journey with a bang.

The top-ranked Test team produced a thorough effort throughout the series. The bowlers backed the hardwork put in the by the batsmen in both the Test. 

Batting first in Jamaica, Hanuma Vihari led the batting once again with a magnificent century. He added 112 runs for the eighth wicket alongside Ishant Sharma to post 416 runs on the board.
India took a massive first-innings lead thanks to Jasprit Bumrah. The young fast bowler single-handedly reduced West Indies to 22 for five including a hat-trick.

He was spectacular as he swung the ball both ways with good pace. Bumrah eventually finished with six wickets as India bowled out the host for a mere 117 runs.

Leading by 299 runs, India lost their top-order in the second innings in quick time. Kemar Roach wreaked havoc to have the visitors at 36 for three. But Ajinkya Rahane and Hanuma Vihari once again shouldered the responsibility to bail their side out of danger.

The pair added 111 runs for the fifth wicket before Virat Kohli decided to declare the innings to set up a target of 410 runs. Vihari has grown in strength and matured as a cricket. He will lead India’s middle-order in the future.
West Indies were upto a daunting task in the fourth innings as they had to chase the impossible to finish the series in level terms. Their batters displayed a better effort but it was not enough to take the game. Shamarh Brooks scored a valiant fifty but the Indian bowlers combined well to secure a 257 runs win.
