India squad for T20I series versus SA: Rohit Sharma likely to meet selectors ahead of selection meeting; team to be announced on May 26
Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India captain Rohit Sharma is likely to meet the selection committee led by Chetan Sharma to discuss about the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 series against South Africa at home. As per reports Rohit is likely to meet the selectors on the eve of IPL 2022 Qualifier 1 on May 23 in Mumbai. The team is likely to be announced on May 26.
According to reports quite a few senior players like Virat Kohli, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah is likely to be rested. Rohit too was supposed to be rested but he decided against as he will get an extra week’s rest since Mumbai Indians has been knocked-out before the Play-Offs.
The Indian players will assemble for a short camp at the National Cricket Academy starting on June 4 before flying to Delhi for the 1st T20 on June 9.
Meanwhile the injury list is increasing with every passing day. Deepak Chahar is still recovering from quadricep injury. Ravindra Jadeja has a rib injury which forced him out of the reminder of IPL 2022. Suryakumar too has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2022 with a muscle injury. T Natarajan has a hamstring injury while Washington Sundar has a split webbing.
