India at Olympics: Manika Batra knocked out of in third round, loses 0-4 to Austria's Sofia Polcanova
Xtra Time Web Desk: Ace Indian table tennis player Manika Batra has lost her women's singles third round match 8-11, 2-11, 5-11, 7-11 against 10th seed Sofia Polcanova of Austria at the Tokyo Olympics on Monday. With Manika’s loss the Indian challenge in women’s table tennis ended at the Tokyo Games. Earlier in te day Sutirtha Mukherjee too lost her second round clash against Yu Fu of Portugal. She was totally outplayed 3-11, 3-11, 5-11 & 5-11 by her opponent.
Manika raised high hopes after her stunning comeback win in 2nd round match against Margaryta Pesotska of Ukraine on Sunday. She won 4-11, 4-11, 11-7, 12-10, 8-11, 11-5, 11-7 against the World rank No 32 Pesotska. But against Polcanova the Indian paddler looked totally out of sorts as she made too many unforced errors.
