IND vs NZ 2017: Kohli breaks Ponting’s record, only behind Tendulkar

Internet Desk: Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli today exceeded legendary Australian skipper Ricky Ponting in the list of most tons in ODIs. Kohli played a brilliant knock against New Zealand today at the Wankhede Stadium during the first of three-match ODI series to score his 31 st ODI hundred. The India skipper has achieved this feat with on his milestone 200th ODI and he is now only behind his idol and World’s batting great Sachin Tendulkar who has 49 hundreds in this format. The poster boy of Indian cricket just took 192 innings to reach his 31st ton. In comparison, Ponting took 349 innings to reach his 30th ODI century.

The hosts once were tottering after losing their two openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan for just 29 runs. Boult was bowling brilliantly on that time, but Kohli hold a side well and made sure that his side post a good total on a formidable batting surface.

The Wankhede crowd which is a part of many historic moments in Indian cricket including the 2011 ICC World Cup win, welcomed the current India skipper with much applause when he came at the crease after an early dismissal of Shikhar Dhawan.
