Kolkata lighting to pay tribute to Olympic Girls Sakshi, Dipa and Sindhu
Kolkata: The much-anticipated festival of Durga Puja, described often as biggest open air art-instaliation, came to an end on Tuesday. Like every year, there were many extravagant themes, pandals, art works and installations.
Sporting celebrities from all over the country visited the pandals during the days of festival. But the theme that stood out was the light works depicting the exploits of Sakshi Malik, PV Sindhu and Dipa Karmakar in Rio Olympics this year.
Kolkata Knight Riders cricketers Yousuf Pathan, Piyush Chawla, Manish Pandey and Ankit Rajput came down to the city to visit the pandals of various puja committees. All the cricketers were rushed to the city to soak in the festivities as part of sponsors commitments.
If you thought about only Indian sporting personalities featuring in the puja festivities, well you will be bowled to see International sports personalities also joining in the festivities. Mohun Bagan’s Scottish striker Darryl Duffy was seen visiting a puja mandap in Howrah.
