Xtra Time Web Desk : Legendary New Zealand batter Ross Taylor on Monday got an emotional farewell as the Kiwi played his last ODI game against Netherlands before retiring from all forms of cricket.

The 38 year old who played over 450 international matches for his country and amassed over 8500 ODI runs, scored 14 off 16 balls in his last international game and helped the blackcaps seal a 115 run victory over Netherlands before calling time on his international career.

"Ross is undoubtedly one of the absolute greats of New Zealand cricket and one of the greats of world cricket as well. But it isn't just the stats that has endeared him to the cricketing public of New Zealand. That's his own personal qualities. Over the years, we've seen the humbleness, we've seen the smile, and we've seen the dedication to the cause of the Blackcaps," said New Zealand Cricket (NZC) chairman Martin Snedden on Taylor's brilliant international career.

The 38 year old Taylor, who on Monday was presented with a traditional Samoan necklace, thanked the New Zealand Cricket and his team mates.

"It's been a pleasure. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I'll be watching from afar to see how you guys go," said an emotional Taylor before signing off.
