ICC CWC 2019: Virat Kohli breaks Sachin Tendulkar’s record, becomes fastest to 11,000 ODI runs

XtraTime Web Desk: India skipper Virat Kohli broke another record of legendary Sachin Tendulkar as he became the quickest to score 11000 ODI runs. Ahead of the game against Pakistan the India skipper needed just 57 runs to reach the milestone.

The run machine took 222 innings to reach this milestone where as the Master Blaster took 276 innings to reach there. Kohli became the ninth player to achieve this milestone. After Tendulkar, Kumar Sangakkara, Ricky Ponting, Sanath Jayasuriya, Mahela Jayawardene, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Jacques Kallis and Sourav Ganguly to score 11,000 ODI runs. Kohli is the 3rd Indian in the elite list after Tendulkar and Ganguly.

Virat Kohli is expected to break most of Sachin Tendulkar’s record in one-day internationals.

India has started off its World Cup campaign with two wins against South Africa, Australia and the third game against New Zealand being a wash out without a ball being bowled.

In the game against the Proteas, Kohli scored 18 and got his touch back in India’s game against Australia with a 77-ball 82.
