ICC CWC 2019: Rohit Sharma takes a dig at umpires. Find why?

XtraTime Web Desk: There was a controversy regarding India’s star opener Rohit Sharma’s out against the Windies during a World Cp group league game at Old Trafford on Thursday. Windies pacer Kemar Roach’s appeal for a caught behind was turned down by the stand in umpire after Rohit Sharma was beaten by a good length delivery, with the ball passing through the gap between bat and pad.

West Indies skipper Jason Holder went for the review. There was a spike on Ultra Edge as the ball as passed through. The third umpire Michael Gough was quick to take a call and asked the on-field umpire Richard Illingworth to change his decision.

While the West Indies team celebrated, Rohit and his opening partner KL Rahul were not happy with the call, with the former expressing his displeasure while heading back to the dressing room.

Just like Rohit, many were not convinced by the third umpire’s decision. Well that dismissal did not cost India much as they went on to beat West Indies by 125 runs. However, after the game Rohit expressed his displeasure over the dismissal through Twitter. The opening batsman took to Twitter to post a couple of pictures of that moment when the ball went past the bat and it showed a gap between the two. Rohit did not write anything but made his displeasure clear by posting two emojis.

India, meanwhile, moved to the second spot in the points table and also continued their unbeaten run in the tournament. Batting first, India rode on fifties from Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni to score 268 for 7. In reply, West Indies were all out for just 143.
