ICC CWC 2019: Rain plays spoilsport in the first semis between India & NZ, to continue on reserve day

XtraTime Web Desk: Heartbreak for all the Indian cricket team fans after a lot of inspections and wait the umpires have decided to abandon the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup semifinal match between India & New Zealand for the day at Old Trafford in Manchester on Tuesday. The game will again start tomorrow (Reserve Day) from where it ended today.

New Zealand will be out batting again at 10:30 local | 15:00 IST. They’ll have 23 balls to play. After that India will then have the full 50 overs to hunt down the 211 + whatever the Kiwis score. Also again, in case the rain plays spoilsport again both the teams will have to  keep waiting all day before the DLS thing kicks in to have at least a 20-over contest. Plus, in case tomorrow turns into a today (as in things don’t allow a match), India will go through to the finals on account of finishing at a higher spot in the league.

Earlier in the day, New Zealand after electing to bat, lost opener Martin Guptill early. Kane Williamson with Henry Nicholls and Ross Taylor steadied the ship. However, it was slow going by the Kiwis throughout their innings. Even the set batters found it difficult to score and perished when they needed to accelerate. However, they still have Ross Taylor out there who is well set and if they could finish strongly in the last 4 overs, something around 250 will be a good score. India though will still be favorites to chase this down.

The forecast for tomorrow does not look too bright either but let’s hope we finish the game and have a clear finalist.
