ICC CWC 2019: Injury scare for Andre Russell in the opening game of Windies

XtraTime Web Desk: Injury concerns for West Indies as their star all-rounder Andre Russell has picked an injury while fielding against Pakistan in their opening fixture of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

He was collecting the ball during fielding at fine leg when Oshane Thomas was bowling and as it looked he hurt his lower left leg.

Russell who bowled brilliantly today with taking two wickets by giving four runs in his three overs spell was given treatment immediately during the 22nd over of Pakistan’s innings.

The 31-year-old had claimed the wickets of Fakhar Zaman and Haris Sohail before the scare to help his side bowl Pakistan out for 105 at Trent Bridge.

Russell, who is just two runs short of 1,000 ODI runs, is also in fine form with the bat after he struck 54 off 25 balls against New Zealand in their warm-up match earlier this week.
