I will remember this knock for a long time in my life: Yashasvi after his stunning 98* against KKR

Xtra Time Web Desk: Rajasthan Royals’ Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed the fastest fifty in the history of IPL, reaching the milestone in just 13 balls during the IPL 2023 game against Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday. Yashasvi’s scintillating 98* off just 47 balls helped Rajasthan Royals thrash KKR by 9 wickets. The Mumbaikar has now amassed 575 runs this season so far, which is just one run behind RCB’s Faf du Plessis. He has already overtaken Ishan Kishan’s 516 runs record of most runs in an IPL season by an uncapped Indian player.

“I will remember this innings for a long time in my life. It was very intense, when I went to bat, I felt I had very less time and suddenly I felt I was going the right way and should continue playing like this. One of my memorable innings,” Yashasvi said in the post-match press conference on Thursday

One being the fastest to score a fifty in the history of IPL, Yashasvi said, “I was very excited. I thought maybe, it was fast. But I was not sure. Then after coming out, I got to know that it is the fastest fifty. Enjoyed the moment a lot, celebrated a lot also, did a lot of things.”

Yashasvi was severe against KKR captain Nitish Rana, who opened the bowling for the home team. He took 26 runs to set the tone for RR run chase.

“I wasn’t taken aback seeing Rana bowl the first over. You expected the wicket to offer turn from the new ball. When I saw Nitish Bhai coming to bowl the first over, I backed myself to play my shots and score some quick runs, even if it was the first ball of the match. You never knew where the first ball would land. I just played my shots” Yashasvi said.

Sanju Samson gave him the opportunity to go for the hundred with a six. But he had to be content with a boundary.

“I had the intent to hit a six (and get to century) but it’s okay, I also wanted to play long win the match. From a last few game, I’ve been trying hard to stay till the end and finish the game. That’s my mindset always,” Yashasvi said on missing the hundred.

Talking about his preparations, the left hander said, “My thumb rule is on my routine and the process, it matters a lot to me. I try my best to keep my focus on that and keep learning every match. It’s very important as I have to take my game forward.”

He added, “I always try to be in the zone and remain in the atmosphere. I have many experienced legendary players around me. Whenever I get a chance, I keep talking to MS bhai, Virat bhai, Rohit bhai, Jos bhai, Sanju bhai. how to keep my mind, what to think. I always try to learn, what all I can improve and bring to the game, how control can be. This game is fully mental first then physical. You must keep yourself in the zone.”
