Xtra Time Web Desk: India batsman and Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer on Thursday assured his fans saying , “I will be back soon”. The Mumbai batsman who was forced to be ruled out of IPL 2021 due to a dislocated shoulder posted a series of tweets.

He tweeted, “I’ve been reading your messages and have been overwhelmed by all the outpouring of love and support. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone. You know what they say, the greater the setback, the stronger the comeback. I shall be back soon”

In an extremely unfortunate incident, Shreyas Iyer was forced to miss the cash rich league this season. He dislocated his shoulder trying to save a boundary during the 1st ODI against England at Pune. It was thought that the injury was not that serious and he can be available after the first stage of IPL 2021. But the scans revealed that he had suffered a labrum tear.

The franchise’s chairman Parth Jindal also expressed his disappointment in a tweet and hoped for a quick recovery for the Delhi Capitals captain.

This comes as a big blow for the IPL 13 runner-ups as Iyer has been in good form. The Delhi Capitals skipper scored 516 runs in 17 matches. It was his captaincy, which has stood out the entire season. The way he used his two lead pacers Kagiso Rabada and Anriche Nortje during the pressure situation was commendable.

It is highly likely that Rishabh Pant, Iyer’s deputy in DC will lead the side in his absence.
