Internet Desk: Hero I-League club Chennai City FC has reportedly requested for a delayed start of the I-League 2017/18 season, as they are now busy shifting their base to Coimbatore from Chennai. They are also planning to change the name of the club from Chennai City FC to Coimbatore FC. The club officials said they needed some time to prepare the stadium in Coimbatore.

The AIFF sources, however, said that their marketing agents, who also run the Indian Super League, are keen for an early start. While the ISL is beginning on November 17, the I-League, they think, should also start around that time.

According to the AIFF sources, the marketing team is of the opinion that it would be easier for the official broadcasters if the two leagues start almost simultaneously. But few members feel the marketing of I-League will suffer if it starts along with the ISL.

The I-League clubs have been invited for a meeting tonight. The representatives of the marketing agents of The AIFF are also likely to be present. A decision will be taken only after discussions with all stake holders.
