Hazzlewood on road to regaining full fitness as Aussies prepare ahead of WTC Final | WTCFinal2023

Xtra Time Web Desk: With a week to go for the much-anticipated ICC World Test Championship final, both India and Australia are now camping at different locations in United Kingdom. While the Indian team has been undergoing a short camp at Kent, Aussie are camping in Liverpool. Pat Cummins and co are had their practice sessions at the Formby Cricket Club in England’s north on Tuesday in preparation for the one-off Test against India at The Oval that commences on June 7.  

The Aussies received a huge boost leading up to the WTC Final as their premier fast bowler Josh Hazzlewood is on the road to regain full fitness. He has started bowling again at the nets after recovering from a side issue. He was forced to cut short his time with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the recently concluded IPL 2023.

The 32-year-old picked up an Achilles injury during the third Test against South Africa at the SCG at the start of the year due to which he had to miss the test series against India in February-March. Hazzlewood only returned to the bowling crease with three matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore at the IPL.

The Australian players being part of county sides has also joined the squad. Star batter Steve Smith along with the likes of Marcus Harris and Marnus Labuschagne has joined the test squad following their county assignments.

The entire Australian team had a golf session at the picturesque Formby Golf Club on Sunday.
