Kolkata: Grandmaster Diptayan Ghosh being felicitated with a golden ring on Monday at the Gorkhi Sadan on behalf of Alkheni Chess Club. He is the youngest from the Bengal to achieve this feat at the age of 17. Virat Kohli is the inspiration of Dptayan Ghosh. But time restricts him from watching Virat play. In chess, World Champion, Magnus Carlsen is his idol. After the felicitation, Diptayan quoted as saying,” I received the first grandmaster norm very quickly but the last norm was a little late for me due to less of stamina. Now my aim is to reach the 2600 rating.”
Diptayan is visiting Puri to participate in a tournament on April 1. From there, he will be directly visiting Dubai to participate in Dubai Open on 10th April. his senior brother, Grandmaster Nilotpal Das feels,” I am not at all surprised with his achievement as I Knew it was coming.
