Wriddhiman Saha has returned negative twice for COVID-19 tests and is likely to travel with India squad to England.

Xtra Time Web Desk: In a huge welcome relief for Team India, wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha has tested negative for COVID-19 and will be joining the Indian squad for the tour to England. The Bengal cricketer has returned negative tests twice for COVID-19 during his quarantine period. He had tested positive for the virus during Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 before the tournament was suspended on May 4.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad batsman has returned home from Delhi to spend time with his family before he will enter the bio bubble for England bound India squad in Mumbai. Saha was named in the 20 member test squad for the upcoming ICC World Test Championship and five match test series against England that will follow, subject to fitness clearance.

There was a lot of speculation about his availability for the tour to England. The wicketkeeper batsman came forward to clear the speculation about his health last week.

"My quarantine period is still not over. As a part of the routine check-up, 2 tests were done; out of which 1 was negative and the other one came as positive. Otherwise, I am doing much better. Requesting everyone not to spread misleading stories/information without the whole context," he tweeted.
