Gautam Gambhir appointed as the mentor of Lucknow franchise for IPL 2022
Xtra Time Web Desk : Former Team India opener Gautam Gambhir has been appointed as the mentor of the Lucknow franchise for the IPL 2022. The Sanjiv Goenka owned franchise earlier roped in Andy Flower as their Head Coach.
The former Kolkata Knight Riders' skipper's appointment would mean that the franchise would be under the guidance of a player who has the experience of winning two IPL trophies with in 2012 and 2014.
In a statement thanking RPSG group, Gambhir said, "Thanks a lot to Dr Goenka and the RPSG Group for presenting me with this wonderful opportunity. The fire to win a contest still burns bright inside me. The desire to leave a winners' legacy still kicks me 24x7. I will not be contesting for a dressing room but for the spirit and soul of Uttar Pradesh."
Reportedly, the Lucknow franchise, owned by Sanjiv Goenka led RPSG group are also the front runners to sign KL Rahul as their captain for IPL 2022. Now, with Gambhir and Flower added to the mix, it would be interesting to see how the franchise meets the high bar of expectations that it has set till now.
