Internet Desk: The future of a group of Dempo footballers is in the dark after the Goan club decided to pull out of I-League. Several footballers who were part of different teams in Indian Super League (ISL) do not know what their future lays in store ahead.

Players like Laxmikant Kattimani, Mandar Rao Desai and Romeo Fernandes (FC Goa), Peter Carvalho (Kerala Blasters), Jewel Raja (Atletico de Kolkata), Holicharan Narzary (NorthEast United) are all part of different ISL teams.

Footballers like Uttam Rai, Samir Nayak, and Joaquim Abranches also are in the same situation.

Atletico de Kolkata’s 26-year-old midfielder Jewel Raja is yet to receive an offer from any I-League side which has become a great reason of worry for him.

According to Jewel, “My future seems uncertain. I have not yet received any phone call or offer from any of the I-League clubs this season. I am truly worried.”

Jewel and several other footballers were part of the Dempo side which qualified for I-League this season but unfortunately, the club management decided to withdraw their name from the league which has left the players without a club.

On Dempo’s last moment decision to withdraw from the I-League, Jewel lamented: “I did not leave Dempo even after they were relegated to second division in the year before last.

“Rather I preferred to take up the challenge of guiding my side to the elite League again. But now, when our effort has brought Dempo again in the elite I-League, the club decided to pull out of the League.

With FC Bardez not qualifying for the I-League, the future of FC Goa footballers like Laxmikant Kattimani, Mandar Rao Desai, and Romeo Fernandes is in dark.

Only time will tell whether new entrants in I-League like Minerva Punjab FC and Chennai City FC, will pick them in their team for the season ahead or not.
